I love me some bread. I know it would fare better for my macros if I stopped consuming carbs all the dang time. But I love I just love the doughy, melt-in-your-mouth texture far too much to let go.
Hence, when I spotted Trader Joe's Rosemary Garlic Monkey Bread in their freezer aisle, I knew I had to try it.
My favorite three things (rosemary, garlic, bread) rolled into one product? Sure, it may have cheese (my lactaid-sensitive stomach's worst enemy), but I think this is something that might be worth a stomachache.
The cooking instructions are easy enough: leave the package, sans plastic wrap, out for an hour for the yeast to rise. After that, pop into your oven to bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
As a side note, I love that some of TJ's bakery/pasty products involves leaving out the dough to rise. I just think it's so awesome.
The dough! It is ri-iiii-sing! |
Getting ready to pop it in the Nuwave oven! |
Yum. Doughy, rosemary, garlicky goodness. |
Voila! |
I didn't take a picture while I devoured these bad boys, unfortunately.
They are extremely delicious when warm and dipped in olive oil. The rosemary flavor really stands out. As the name implies (Monkey Bread, ooh ah ah), you can use your hands to pick the bread apart as you eat it. :)
This bread would go well as an appetizer, with pasta, or even on its own!
And sure enough, the cheese gave me my lactose-intolerant stomachache. I daresay that this was well worth it, though.
You can find a box at your local Trader Joe's for $4.99 in the freezer aisle.
